Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States KIPP Minnesota Public Schools Full time
Job Overview

Company Background
KIPP is a prominent network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools dedicated to serving under-resourced communities across the United States. Currently, KIPP operates 281 locally-managed regions in over 25 states and Washington, DC, catering to approximately 120,000 students. A significant portion of KIPP's student body, over 80%, comes from low-income households, with more than 95% identifying as African American or Hispanic/Latino. Through a commitment to high expectations for both students and staff, exceptional educators, extended learning time, autonomy in budget and curriculum, and a results-oriented approach, KIPP schools equip traditionally underserved students for success in higher education and beyond. The effectiveness of KIPP schools is evidenced by the fact that nearly 85% of KIPP alumni nationally have enrolled in college.

KIPP Minnesota Overview
KIPP Minnesota Schools is a network of high-performing, college-preparatory public charter schools, poised to serve over 300 students in grades K-8 in north Minneapolis. As a rapidly expanding and entrepreneurial organization, KIPP Minnesota has ambitious growth plans for the future.

Our Mission
We are committed to ensuring that our students acquire the knowledge, skills, and character necessary for success. Our relentless efforts aim to provide every student with the opportunity to attend college and access the myriad opportunities that a college education affords. The KIPP Minnesota Regional Team plays a vital role in supporting our schools, leaders, and staff through organizational alignment, academic support, business management, strategic planning, and administrative functions.

Our Approach
Success requires dedication and hard work. Our outstanding educators, rigorous curriculum, extended school hours, and a strong school culture empower our students as they strive for college readiness. We operate as a cohesive team, utilizing data and continuous reflection to enhance our practices. We firmly believe that all KIPP students can achieve their college aspirations, and we are committed to supporting them throughout their journey.

Why This Role Matters
In our communities, only about 1 in 10 students earn a college degree, a statistic we find unjust and unacceptable. We are determined to change this narrative. Nationally, over 85% of KIPP middle school alumni progress to college.

Position Overview

As a K-8 Spanish Language Educator, you will be an integral member of the KIPP Minnesota Instructional Team, directly engaging with students in the classroom. Your role will involve planning and delivering high-quality lessons that foster significant student achievement while contributing to a culture of excellence within the school. This is a full-time position based at KIPP North Star campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement school-wide student management policies within classrooms and throughout the campus.
  • Design and deliver highly rigorous and engaging lessons in the Foreign Language elective.
  • Contribute to the development of curriculum standards and mapping.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with parents.
  • Create a classroom environment that is both nurturing and challenging.
  • Maintain a clean and professional classroom setting.
  • Fulfill morning, lunch, and afternoon duties as assigned and participate in all staff meetings.
  • Utilize data to inform instructional practices, enhancing student achievement and teaching effectiveness.
  • Continuously seek to refine and improve teaching methods through constructive feedback from school leaders and colleagues.
Qualifications

Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a language-related or educational field.
- Near-native proficiency in Spanish.
- Experience teaching Spanish.
- Practical experience working with children.

Highly Preferred

Compensation

Salary: $44,880+ (commensurate with experience).
