Position Overview
The role of the Regional Float Nurse within the System Staffing Office is designed for experienced inpatient nurses specializing in Critical Care. This position requires flexibility to provide nursing services across multiple facilities within the Dartmouth Health System.
Key Responsibilities
- Employs the nursing process to assess, diagnose, establish outcomes, plan, implement, and evaluate personalized care plans.
- Utilizes critical thinking to foresee and identify changes in patient conditions, taking necessary actions to adjust care plans or escalate concerns to the healthcare team.
- Adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics, advocating for patient rights, ensuring informed consent, and supporting patient autonomy in decision-making.
- Seeks constructive feedback and actively works to enhance professional performance.
- Participates in the governance of nursing practice.
- Demonstrates leadership and decision-making capabilities.
- Fosters positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues and patients.
- Mentors peers to promote the advancement of nursing practices and the profession.
- Takes responsibility for the nursing care of patients while appropriately delegating tasks to other members of the care team in compliance with relevant laws and policies.
- Organizes and prioritizes tasks effectively to optimize patient outcomes.
- Stays informed of the latest evidence and standards, applying them to daily nursing practice.
- Encourages a culture of inquiry by contributing to research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practices at the local level.
- Communicates proficiently across various formats in all practice areas.

- Provides guidance to student nurses, nurse externs, nurse residents, and other healthcare team members.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program is required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with a minimum of one year of experience.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with at least two years of experience.
Licensure and Certifications Required
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license with eligibility in New Hampshire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire, with higher-level certifications as needed based on unit requirements.
- ACLS certification is mandatory upon hire for specific units.
