Family Practice Associates of Lexington is seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team of primary care providers. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing advanced practice nursing care to patients requesting behavioral health services.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate new and established patients, gather histories, discuss goals, and implement solutions.
  • Perform psychiatric intakes, evaluations, and prescribe medications as needed.
  • Observe patients to evaluate and record any significant behavior and reaction patterns.
  • Work closely with primary care and other providers in accepting referrals, providing feedback, and sending referrals as needed.
  • Complete timely documentation and billing practices for all patients.
  • Provide patient education to patients and their families.
  • Perform other medical or educational functions as indicated in the scope of practice for a Nurse Practitioner.

Requirements:

  • Kentucky licensed with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification.
  • PMHNP must have a minimum of one year of experience with children and/or adults who present and are assessed with a DSM-V diagnosis.
  • Active DEA required.
  • Experienced in working with adults, children, and adolescents, and across the lifespan.
  • Experienced in both medication management and psychotherapy.
  • Thorough understanding of patient care, community resources, drugs, and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration.
