Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct precise and timely quantity take-offs for project estimation utilizing AGTEK, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and manual methods
  • Support project controls to ensure adherence to contracts, quality standards, budget, schedule, job costing, and forecasting
  • Interpret and analyze plans and specifications; prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) promptly for additional details
  • Manage submittals and distribute as necessary; ensure timely procurement of specified materials to align with project timelines and budgetary constraints
  • Provide technical engineering support, including AutoCAD drawings, engineering calculations, and field layout
  • Document production metrics, generate reports, and forecast project outcomes as needed
  • Schedule and oversee subcontractors and service providers to meet project timelines
  • Adhere to OSHA regulations, including accident investigations, reporting, safety meetings, and training
  • Engage actively with team members to promote safe practices; ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with all departments to achieve work objectives
  • Encourage an environment of open communication among the project team
  • Demonstrate a commitment to CalPortland's core values on a daily basis
  • Develop and oversee all phases of Water Pollution Control Plans (WPCP) and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP)
  • Assist the Superintendent with material procurement, equipment rentals, and resource allocation
  • Support special projects as needed
Educational Background

A Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering is preferred.

Qualifications
  • A strong desire to learn and excel in the Heavy Civil sector
  • Proven leadership abilities and effective communication skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving, planning, and organizational capabilities
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AGTEK, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and scheduling software
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internship experience in the heavy civil sector
  • Proficiency in GPS technology
  • Experience with Primavera P6 scheduling software
  • Familiarity with SAP systems
Employment Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug and alcohol screening, and a background check. Certain positions may necessitate registration and clearance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) along with ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
