Peraton is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer (IET) to contribute to our Department of State (DoS) Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission (DSCM) program. This role is pivotal in delivering top-tier cyber and technology security expertise to facilitate innovative, efficient, and secure business operations.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid model based in Rosslyn, VA.
The DSCM program encompasses a broad spectrum of support, including technical, engineering, data analytics, cybersecurity, management, operational, logistical, and administrative services aimed at assisting the DoS Cyber & Technology Security (CTS) Directorate. Our mission involves safeguarding a global cyber infrastructure that includes networks, systems, information, and mobile devices while proactively identifying and mitigating cyber risks and threats.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate and assess emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends.
- Work collaboratively with diverse teams to deploy innovative solutions.
- Conduct feasibility assessments and pilot initiatives to evaluate new technologies.
- Provide expert technical support during the integration of new systems.
- Maintain awareness of industry advancements and best practices.
- Design and deliver training programs to enhance team knowledge on new technologies.
- Produce comprehensive documentation and reports on technology evaluations and implementation strategies.
- Develop a Technology Roadmap that aligns with industry trends and collaborate with vendor partners to perform Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) assessments, facilitating the operationalization of innovative technologies that support foreign diplomacy initiatives.
- Conduct pilot program evaluations to showcase capabilities for adoption by Diplomatic Security stakeholders.
Essential Requirements:
- 14 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree; 12 years with a Master's degree; 9 years with a PhD. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
- Possession of at least ONE of the following certifications, or the ability to obtain one prior to starting: CASP+ CE; CCISO; CCNA Cyber Ops; CCNA-Security; CCNP Security; CEH; CFR; CISA; CISM; CISSP (or Associate); CISSP-ISSAP; CISSP-ISSEP; Cloud+; CySA+; GCED; GCIA; GCIH; GICSP; GSLC; SCYBER.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological environment.
- In-depth knowledge of current technology trends and a strong enthusiasm for innovation.
- Experience with AI, machine learning, blockchain, IoT, or other cutting-edge technologies.
- Fundamental understanding of Linux operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS).
- Familiarity with Cloud Platform functionalities and configurations.
- Proficiency in command-line tools and shell scripting.
- Basic understanding of networking principles and protocols.
- Project management expertise with the ability to juggle multiple projects concurrently.
- Knowledge of popular security frameworks such as NIST AI 100, CSF2.0, OWASP LLM Top 10, etc.
- U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
- Active Secret security clearance, with the capability to obtain a final Top Secret security clearance.
