Job Summary

The Registered Nurse Manager I is a key leadership position at the State of New Mexico, responsible for overseeing the delivery of long-term care services to residents. This role requires a strong background in nursing management, with experience in planning, directing, and coordinating healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage a team of nursing staff, including Registered Nurse Supervisors, Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVN), and Nursing Aides.
  • Ensure that residents receive high-quality care, as described in their individual Plans of Care.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure that residents receive appropriate care and services.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure that care is being delivered in accordance with established standards.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico or eligibility for such licensure.
  • Two years of management experience in a healthcare setting, with a focus on long-term care services.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering high-quality care and services.
  • Valid American Heart Association BLS/CPR Certification and Safe Food Handling Certificate.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with frequent exposure to visual/video display terminals and extensive computer and phone usage. The incumbent may be required to drive a State-owned vehicle and may be exposed to physical and verbal abuse from residents, moderate noise levels, and stressful situations.
