Position Objective:
The role involves overseeing the planning, development, execution, communication, and maintenance of Big River Steel's quality management systems, policies, documentation, data, and customer-specific requirements. The supervisor ensures that quality management system activities align with the company's goals and objectives at the site level and within the BRS Quality Teams, as designated.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Supervise Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality programs, ensuring compliance with ResponsibleSteel requirements where applicable; adhere to BRS directives and regulatory obligations within the scope of responsibility.
2) Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Quality Assurance on all quality management system upgrades and certifications to ensure adherence to compliance standards, specifications, and customer-specific requirements.
3) Monitor the performance of the quality management system and identify areas for improvement in compliance with standard requirements, focusing on ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and VDA.
4) Maintain quality training certifications as assigned.
5) Conduct supplier and internal compliance audits to verify adherence to company procedures and established standards, including production, laboratory, and support processes as necessary.
6) Assist in the development of quality management system documentation and provide departments with quality planning and support.
7) Support BRS project plans and corrective actions to ensure task requirements are fulfilled by assigned personnel.
8) Facilitate training for the quality management system as required.
9) Ensure that quality goals and objectives are effectively communicated throughout the site as appropriate.
Qualifications:
1) A four-year technical degree is preferred.
2) A minimum of two years of experience with ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 quality systems is required.
3) Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in MS Office; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management, both internal and external.
4) Exceptional attention to detail; excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and achieve results within strict deadlines.
5) Ability to work independently with minimal supervision (must be self-motivated once given direction/guidance).
6) ISO 9001 and IATF Internal Auditor certification and experience are required.
7) Familiarity with steel mill processes is advantageous.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
This position necessitates the ability to work in an office environment with tasks in the mill, which may involve exposure to extreme temperatures. The role may require long hours, weekend, and holiday coverage to support routine responsibilities, as well as travel.
