Job Title: General Accountant

Job Summary:

The General Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of invoices by coordinating with the Commercial Group to manage invoicing accuracy, corrections, and credits. This role will also assist in monthly closing processes, ensuring prepaid items are amortized appropriately, liabilities are properly recorded, and balance sheet accounts are reconciled.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality requirements, and ResponsibleSteel requirements are followed.
  2. Develop and implement IT and manual internal controls to ensure complete and accurate financial records.
  3. Support the documentation of internal controls in compliance with Section 404 of Sarbanes-Oxley.
  4. Coordinate with the Commercial Group to retrieve pricing and order entry data to ensure correct invoicing.
  5. Manage all credit memos needed and prepare root-cause analysis for errors made.
  6. Manually enter any invoicing needed.
  7. Ensure all credits or invoices needed are entered in the proper period and are reflected in Great Plains for financial accuracy.
  8. Provide any necessary accruals needed.
  9. Reconcile sales information to verify completeness and accuracy.
  10. Perform month-end closing procedures surrounding invoicing, AR, and some AP.
  11. Oversee all intercompany transactions between BRS OpCo and USS and BRS2.
  12. Develop process improvements when opportunities arise.
  13. Calculate and record journal entries to facilitate month-end close.
  14. Support the documentation of internal controls in compliance with Section 404 of Sarbanes-Oxley.
  15. Research non-routine and unusual accounting transactions.
  16. Reconcile Intercompany AR, AP, and Sales to intercompany balances.
  17. Reconcile various balance sheet accounts.
  18. Assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
  1. An accounting or finance degree.
  2. Fundamental knowledge of GAAP.
  3. 3+ years of similar experience.
  4. Working knowledge of Great Plains accounting software, a plus.
  5. Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Dependable.
  8. Detail-oriented.
  9. Organized.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

This job requires computer work in an office.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not supervise others.
