Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Child Life Specialist to join our team at The University of Chicago Medicine. As a Child Life Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing emotional support and comfort to children and their families during their hospital stay. Your expertise will help create a child-friendly environment, promoting a sense of calm and reducing anxiety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' and families' psychosocial and developmental needs, providing individualized support and interventions.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic plans to promote emotional well-being and coping skills in children.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care and support for patients and families.
  • Provide education and resources to families on child development, health, and wellness.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of child life programs and services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with children and families in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certification as a Child Life Specialist (CCLS) or eligibility for certification.
