Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Strike. The successful candidate will work under general direction, applying their expertise to generate solutions that require development or sustainment of new or improved techniques, procedures, or products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning, conducting, and evaluating approaches to meet project objectives in a timely, cost-effective fashion.
  • Draft, review, or authorize material requisitions for equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Generate, review, or authorize lists (equipment, valve, piping, tie-in, and specialty items).
  • Produce or examine mechanical engineering deliverable status reports and work plans.
  • Coordinate with client personnel regarding mechanical and piping activities.
  • Examine and approve vendor drawings and documents.
  • Coordinate, evaluate, or authorize PFDs, P&IDs, piping plans, and site layouts.
  • Attend factory acceptance testing of equipment when necessary.
  • Develop, review, or authorize technical bid evaluations for equipment and materials in collaboration with the Procurement Department.
  • Prepare, review, or authorize mechanical engineering calculations.
  • Review the mechanical scope of work to be executed to ensure alignment with deliverable logs, project specifications, and/or contract documents, when acting as LME.
  • Draft, review, or authorize mechanical specifications and data sheets.
  • Coordinate with project engineers, other discipline engineers, and construction teams to ensure consistency in execution of project management activities.
  • Interface with Client to discuss design requirements and project status updates during weekly and 30/60/90% design reviews.

Requirements:

  • Typically, 10+ years of experience focusing on oil and gas pipeline facilities such as compressor stations, pump stations, metering and regulating stations, storage terminals, loading/unloading facilities.
  • Must have CAESAR II experience.
  • Knowledgeable in industry codes and standards published by US Department of Transportation, AGA, ANSI, API, ASME, ASTM, MSS, and NFPA, with the ability to apply the standards to oil and gas pipeline facility systems designs.
  • Knowledge of computer systems in an engineering environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
  • PE license is required.

Competencies:

  • Possess sound judgment; highly developed management, organizational, interpersonal, presentation/training, oral and written communication skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical and design skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and work with multidisciplinary teams; and deal with complex issues and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to prepare and interpret design reports, recognize problems, and define and evaluate solutions.
  • Ability to mentor entry-level staff on oil and gas pipeline and facility projects.

Other Criteria:

  • Must be willing to travel to project sites to collect field data.
  • Must be willing to travel to project sites to perform field inspections.
  • May be required to be out of town for multiple days at a time.
  • Complies with Strike's policies and procedures.
  • Complies with Strike's Drug & Alcohol Policy maintaining favorable drug testing results throughout employment.
  • Performs job safely with respect to others, property, and individual safety.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
