Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Labor Support Associate to join our team at Memorial Health. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret outpatient and non-patient physician orders, questioning any unclear orders with the ordering provider.
  • Recheck orders for errors and make necessary corrections.
  • Remove biological specimens from biohazard bags, verify specimen containers, and prepare logs.
  • Attach barcodes to biological specimen containers and communicate with phlebotomists to organize and facilitate specimen collection.
  • Provide effective communication to patients and physicians, answering questions and addressing concerns.
  • Monitor the printing of physician reports and place them in the appropriate bin.
  • Communicate requests for specimen collection to phlebotomists and work closely with phlebotomy staff and managers.
  • Give patient test results to nursing units and physician offices in accordance with laboratory and hospital policies.
  • Assist clients and physicians with specimen requirements and collection procedures.
  • Document errors made by clients and notify management.
Requirements
  • High school graduate.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Basic communication skills required.
  • Basic Medical Terminology helpful.
  • Demonstrate the ability to type and use a keypad.
  • Light physical effort.
