About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer Intern to join our team at Granite Construction Incorporated. As a Project Engineer Intern, you will assist the Project Team with the management, field construction activities, and documentation of a project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate with Foremen and Superintendent to learn about field construction operations and provide support.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, inspectors, and the local community.
  • Assist with the Project Environmental, Health, Safety requirements.
  • Assist the Project Engineer with approving time cards in HeavyJob and ensuring all equipment and employees are accounted for.
  • Verify quantities in FIS and log quantities for cost and revenue tracking.
  • Generate and distribute daily cost reports to the Project Manager, Foreman, and Superintendent.
  • Complete daily reports documenting both Granite Construction and Subcontractor activities.
  • Place necessary material orders, survey requests, locates, and maintain a to-do list and diary.
  • Calculate yields of materials used such as concrete, aggregate base, and asphalt.
  • Tour the jobsite daily with the Project Manager or Engineer to verify quantities claimed are correct and stay current on overall job progress.
Requirements
  • High School diploma required and a minimum of 2 years of education from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Civil Engineering or Construction Management field of study.
  • Previous construction experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Problem-solving skills.

Base Hourly Wage Range

Hourly: $25.00 - $27.00

Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
