About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead our heavy civil construction projects from start to finish. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects, exceeding client expectations, and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute project plans, ensuring timely completion, within budget, and to the required quality standards
  • Manage a team of up to 10 full-time employees, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations
  • Coordinate with estimators and project controls to establish project budgets and schedules
  • Lead estimating efforts on vertically integrated projects, ensuring accurate and consistent bid-to-build processes
  • Collaborate with project sponsors, managers, and teams to manage resources, meet project schedules, and ensure successful project kick-offs
  • Foster a dynamic project environment, promoting open communication and collaboration among project engineers, foremen, superintendents, and construction managers
  • Ensure proper job controls, including quantities, costs, revenue, and schedules
  • Establish and maintain relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, inspectors, and other stakeholders, providing exceptional customer service and developing long-term partnerships
  • Analyze project performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
  • Ensure projects are run at profitability levels, meeting or exceeding expected margins
  • Comply with and support corporate safety initiatives, maintaining a safe work environment
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience in heavy civil construction
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive project experience in heavy civil environments
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in paving, dirt, and grading in private or public environments
  • Proven track record of leading and developing successful project teams
  • Experience as a Large Projects Superintendent or in design-build projects is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of construction practices, including paving, underground, concrete, and grading
  • Understanding of union agreements and prevailing wage issues
  • Ability to work in high-production environments, making timely decisions, and adapting to changing circumstances
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
