Principal Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer to lead our development review team in the Public Works Department. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in development, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work effectively with developers, internal stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.

• Review commercial, industrial, and subdivision projects for compliance with the California Subdivision Map Act and City engineering standards
• Ensure development compliance with stormwater regulations
• Plan, organize, direct, assign, manage, and coordinate the work of an engineering division
• Direct and coordinate the work of engineering and construction consultants in the design and construction of major public works projects
• Apply for, administer, and manage project funding grants

• Eight years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience in the design and construction of municipal public works projects
• At least two years of experience in a management or supervisory capacity
• Valid Class C California Driver's license and a safe driving record
• Valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the State Board of Registration for Civil Engineers
