Position Overview:
Under the strategic guidance of a senior executive, the Senior Dean oversees the operations of various academic programs and support services. This role involves managing and assessing the performance of subordinate managers, faculty, and staff while ensuring adherence to institutional policies and procedures. The Senior Dean is responsible for executing complex initiatives and special projects that enhance educational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Providing visionary leadership to a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students.
- Leading the development and management of major instructional and support programs throughout the year.
- Facilitating the recruitment and selection process for management and faculty positions.
- Supervising and evaluating the performance of assigned managers and staff.
- Administering budgets for designated program areas.
- Conducting research and preparing reports to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Managing significant projects and initiatives in instructional and student services.
- Developing policies and procedures that align with institutional goals.
- Coordinating grant applications and managing awarded grants.
- Serving as a liaison with various stakeholders, including students and community groups.
- Participating in institutional committees and governance activities.
- Overseeing the annual planning and budgeting processes in collaboration with faculty and staff.
- Addressing and resolving complaints related to program activities.
- Leading program reviews and supporting accreditation processes.
- Promoting a culture of innovation and student success.
- Evaluating and improving instructional and support services.
- Encouraging assessment of student outcomes to enhance learning effectiveness.
- Facilitating collaboration with external agencies and institutions.
- Engaging in shared governance and collaborative decision-making processes.
- Interpreting laws and regulations affecting program areas and ensuring compliance.
- Traveling as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Master's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution. A minimum of three years of relevant management experience is required.
Skills and Knowledge:
Proficiency in management technologies and principles, shared governance, and effective communication. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, as well as modern office software, is essential.
Desirable Attributes:
Ability to lead strategic planning initiatives, develop research agendas, and foster collaborative environments. Experience in conducting research with a focus on equity and inclusivity is highly valued.
