General Purpose of Role:
Contribute to a supportive kitchen environment that fosters relationships with students and staff while acquiring valuable work and life experience.
To empower and equip every student with the confidence, courage, and competence to realize their aspirations; contribute to the community; and engage in lifelong learning by assisting in the preparation and serving of high-quality, nutritious meals to students and staff.
Develop essential skills to support the daily functions of culinary services.Key Responsibilities:
Varies based on kitchen requirements;
Completes site-specific training in fundamental school nutrition;
Assists in executing nutrition assistant duties including, but not limited to: meal preparation, stocking, dishwashing, and serving meals;
Understands and adheres to proper time and attendance protocols, current uniform standards, and hygiene procedures for culinary services;
Follows the daily schedule of site and operational expectations.
Additional Responsibilities:
Collaborates effectively with kitchen personnel;
Completes weekly timecard submissions;
Seeks clarification and communicates efficiently with kitchen staff;
Complies with all local and district health and safety regulations.
Required Skills:
Proficient in the safe use of commercial kitchen equipment to minimize accidents, safety, and sanitation issues;
Ability to be agile and move swiftly;
Attention to detail;
Ability to cultivate positive relationships with students, staff, and the community;
Effective communication skills utilizing strong interpersonal abilities;
Understanding and adherence to Culinary Services processes including, but not limited to, standardized recipes, labels, safety data sheets, cooking, and cleaning procedures, as trained and directed.
Culinary Services Offers:
Experience in formal interview processes;
Performance evaluation feedback;
An opportunity to develop foundational foodservice skills, as the applicant is capable.
