The Financial Counselor plays a crucial role in assisting patients with their financial responsibilities arising from the services provided by our facility. This position involves evaluating patients' financial capabilities, advising on insurance benefits, clarifying financial obligations, and facilitating payment arrangements. The counselor is tasked with the precise and prompt verification of insurance benefits, which includes:

  • Contacting patients or guardians to gather necessary insurance details.
  • Researching and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of various insurance reimbursement rates and criteria.
  • Calculating and estimating out-of-pocket expenses for patients.
  • Collecting co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles.
  • Assessing patients' financial situations to establish fair repayment terms.
Qualifications

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: Prior experience in healthcare collections or a related field is preferred, along with any combination of education, training, or experience in a healthcare business office setting.

License: A valid driver's license is preferred.

Additional Requirements: Flexibility in working hours and potential overtime may be necessary. Completion of Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) is required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient interaction.
