Job Summary:

The Senior SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server systems, ensuring the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement, configure, and maintain SQL Server systems to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Develop and sustain SQL Server environments (DEV, QA, UAT, and PROD) to ensure operational readiness, security, health, and performance.
  • Perform performance tuning and data modeling to support multiple development teams and 3rd party vendor products.
  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance.
  • Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.
  • Assist with design and implementation of a data loading tool to move sanitized data from production to a non-production environment.
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
  • Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
  • Monitor and apply SQL Server Service Packs and Cumulative Updates.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience required.
  • Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong experience with backups, restores, and recovery models.
  • Expert level t-SQL tuning.
  • Experience developing and maintaining SSIS packages.
  • Experience migrating sanitized data from production to non-production environments.
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
  • Experience working with Windows server, including Windows Clustering.
  • Ability to organize and plan work independently.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams.
  • Strong experience with AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with SQL Server replication.
  • Experience or good working knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) with both VMs and DBaaS.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with the following tools: Spotlight Monitoring, Host Monitor, Litespeed, Jira, Confluence, Opsgenie, Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience with MySQL, Oracle, SAP BusinessObjects, and tools (such as ER Studio) to reverse engineer databases.
  • Experience with one or more object-oriented programming language.
  • Strong PowerShell skills.
