Job Title: Database Administrator III

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator III to join our team at OneBlood. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the physical design and operation of our databases to maintain security and integrity controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of production, non-production, and redundant database environments
  • Formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management and monitor transaction activity and utilization
  • Review database design and integration of systems and make recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements
  • Develop, manage, and test back-up and recovery plans ensuring that all procedures are functioning properly
  • Maintain security and integrity controls over the databases
  • Contribute to the development of a strategy for use of relational databases technology
  • Advise organization leaders on database concepts and functional capabilities and recommend system changes to programming staff

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field from an accredited college or university and six (6) to eight (8) years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience
  • Database Certification (SQL Server and Oracle) preferred
  • Ability to organize work for timely completion
  • Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Skill in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to commute with personal transportation

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds). The work environment is usually moderate, with no potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements, and pathogenic substances.
