POSITION SUMMARY:
The Materials and Operations Supervisor is accountable for guaranteeing the availability of essential materials to support purchasing and manufacturing processes. This role includes overseeing the scheduling of inbound raw materials and components, as well as maintaining sufficient stock levels for production needs. Additionally, the supervisor is tasked with procuring goods and services while ensuring optimal value, timely delivery, and adherence to quality standards. This versatile position requires a proactive, entrepreneurial individual with a positive attitude.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement best practices for the shipment of goods, including international logistics and compliance with Dangerous Goods regulations.
- Possess a strong inventory management background to facilitate the receipt of goods, shop floor issues, cycle counting, and warehouse operations.
- Manage warehouse space effectively.
- Procure components, subcontracted services, and finished products.
- Assess and manage relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
- Process purchase orders in accordance with requisitions and supplier agreements.
- Develop initiatives for cost savings.
- Monitor the status of purchase orders and manufacturing work orders, expediting critical orders as necessary.
- Resolve discrepancies in invoices.
- Publish metrics, production schedules, and actual results versus forecasts.
- Drive continuous improvements in costs, lead times, and inventory management.
- Assist in the development and implementation of ERP systems, procedures, and strategies.
- Address material non-conformances.
- Contribute to enhancing the planning system and business processes.
- Oversee inventory levels, equipment, and stock movements within or outside the organization.
- Ensure materials are available to support the manufacturing process.
- Enhance the integrity of the internal materials planning process (i.e., ERP or MRP) to ensure timely material release requirements.
- Identify and document inventory release strategies for critical and long lead-time components.
- Develop a forward-looking plan based on historical data and future customer forecasts.
- Maintain effective communication with internal departments and coordinate necessary action plans.
- Ensure a clean and organized workspace through 5S housekeeping practices.
- Align departmental goals with overall objectives and provide regular performance feedback.
- Stay informed about market trends through vendor relationships.
- Commit to continuous personal and team improvement.
- Foster a respectful environment through effective communication and collaboration.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or equivalent knowledge in Materials Management or Purchasing, with PMAC or CAPIC/APICS certification preferred.
- Strong understanding of MRP, inventory, purchasing, and production principles.
- Experience in implementing and executing cycle counting policies and procedures.
- Expertise in Item Master configuration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience in shop floor supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
