We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Information Services Supervisor to join our team at Ocean County Library, NJ. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing leadership and advocacy for services for adults, planning, organizing, and coordinating a comprehensive program of library services, and participating in partnerships with other adult-serving organizations.
Key Responsibilities- Assist and/or instruct patrons in finding the desired information or resources, including use of computers.
- Provide designated staff with appropriate assignments, and instructions for their completion; may supervise the staff, services, and work operations of a unit, section, or department within a library.
- Develop and recommend short and long-range plans for program development and operations.
- Coordinate activities of the department or work program with other sections within the library and with other agencies as required.
- Provide research services, answering reference questions of varying difficulty and explaining the use and availability of reference sources in all appropriate formats.
- Design, organize, and maintain library materials and electronic resources by using appropriate systems of access that are compatible with the needs and styles of learning of the public.
- Plan and conduct library programs such as library tours, book talks, film programs, reading clubs, etc. for the purpose of promoting literacy, fostering use of library resources, and to inform the community and various organizations of available library services.
- A Master's degree in Library or Information Sciences in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey College Master's program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State University.
- Two years of librarian experience.
- A valid certification as a Professional Librarian issued by Thomas Edison State University or the ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.
- A driver's license valid in New Jersey.
