Salary/Pay Scale: $55,000

Position Overview

The role of the Athletic Trainer encompasses the provision of expert athletic training services for high school sports programs, operating under the guidance of a licensed physician or via written referrals. This position is supervised by the Athletic Director and adheres to the ethical standards established by the National Athletic Trainers Association, complying with New York State Athletic Trainers licensing regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and sustain a comprehensive athletic training program tailored for student athletes.

• Deliver First Aid and conduct injury assessments, treatments, rehabilitation, and reconditioning for student-athletes.

• Facilitate necessary referrals to physicians as needed.

• Keep meticulous records of injuries and treatments related to sports.

• Conduct baseline concussion evaluations for high school and modified athletes.

• Provide coverage during home athletic events and practices throughout the academic year.

• Offer support for away games, particularly for varsity football and other sports during playoff seasons.

• Maintain ongoing communication with the school physician regarding health care and treatment recommendations for athletic injuries.

• Collaborate with coaching staff regarding the care and treatment of student-athletes.

• Oversee the management and procurement of supplies and equipment for the athletic training facility.

• Ensure each team is equipped with the necessary medical supplies.

• Assist coaching personnel in the implementation and assessment of sport-specific conditioning programs.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements: Must possess and maintain licensure as an Athletic Trainer in accordance with the New York State Department of Education.

Special Requirements:

• Maintain current certification in CPR/Emergency Cardiac Care.

• In certain agencies, possess and maintain an appropriate class Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

• For positions in school districts or BOCES, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is mandatory for direct contact with students.

Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Athletic Director.
