Position Summary:
This role is responsible for overseeing staff and developing engaging activities for campers enrolled in our Before and After Care Camp program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in essential staff orientation and parent engagement sessions.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate Before and After Care personnel.
- Collaborate with the Camp Director to maintain a secure and enjoyable atmosphere for both campers and staff.
- Design and implement activity schedules tailored for Before and After Care participants.
- Assist with operational procedures, including supply ordering, record maintenance, and camper assessments.
- Engage with parents in a professional and customer-focused manner.
- Identify and address opportunities for effective problem resolution.
- Guide groups and individual campers to ensure successful participation in all camp activities.
- Monitor camper behavior, assess its suitability, and apply appropriate behavior management strategies.
- Educate and enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings throughout the summer season.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED is required; a college degree is preferred.
- Essential prior experience in camp or childcare settings.
- Administrative and supervisory experience is advantageous.
- Ability to complete essential tasks at camp, including auditory, visual, ambulatory, cognitive, communication, and physical capabilities.
- Proficient in relating to and communicating with peers, parents, and campers of varying ages and skill levels.
- Capable of providing guidance and supervision effectively.
- Engage with children enthusiastically while providing supervision and support.
- Ability to assist campers during emergencies, including fire, evacuation, illness, or injury.
- Preferred background in Judaic experiences.
- Current American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification is required for specific camps (training available if needed).
Note: Certain camps may require successful registration on the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry as a condition of employment, which must be maintained in good standing.
