Clinical Histology Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Histology Technician to join our team at NYU Langone Health System. As a Clinical Histology Technician, you will be responsible for performing routine and complex laboratory procedures, including specimen processing and handling, testing of patient specimens, and calculating and reporting of results.
Key Responsibilities- Perform laboratory tests and procedures in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
- Follow approved policies and procedures for proper recording and reporting of results.
- Perform and document quality control procedures, including instrument preventative maintenance, function checks, and calibration.
- Review patient results prior to release to the electronic medical record, correlating final results with known facts concerning patient history and previous values.
- Communicate critical values and barriers to testing to medical staff according to protocol.
- Complete assigned proficiency and competency assessments.
- Maintain sufficient testing supplies in work area, including ordering if directed by lead.
- Generate and review pending logs.
- Enter Patient Safety Intelligence (PSI) as required.
- Participate in the training of new medical technologists/residents at the direction of seniors and lead technologists.
- NYS DOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
- Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or Bachelor's Degree in the major of biology, chemistry, or physical sciences from an accredited college or university.
- One year experience in a clinical laboratory (completion of an internship at a qualified institution is acceptable).
- NYS License.
- Effective Interpersonal and Communication skills required.
- ASCP Certified.
- Excellent computer knowledge/skill.

The salary range for this role is $94,000 - $116,953.62 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
