This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality patient care, emphasizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
The successful candidate will provide safe, competent, and compassionate care in alignment with NYU Langone Health's Patient Care and Nursing Standards.As part of a collaborative healthcare team, the nurse will develop and execute a comprehensive, patient-centered care plan in conjunction with healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct educational in-services for staff and instruct Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) classes.
- Serve as a resource for nursing staff, Medical Assistants, and students.
- Systematically collect and analyze patient healthcare data to inform diagnoses.
- Identify expected outcomes and proactively address potential adverse outcomes tailored to individual patients.
- Provide emergency care in accordance with established protocols.
- Develop and implement care plans with prescribed interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
- Evaluate patient progress and educate patients and families to support healthy adjustments to health changes.
- Consider the specific needs and behaviors of diverse patient populations in all care activities.
- Support the institution's mission, philosophy, and standards in all nursing practices.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practices.
- Coordinate nursing schedules and oversee coverage for various clinical activities.
- Monitor staff competencies and ensure compliance with clinical standards.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing; candidates with a Diploma or Associate Degree must have at least one year of relevant experience and a plan to obtain a baccalaureate degree. A current Registered Professional Nurse license in New York is mandatory, along with BCLS and ACLS certifications. Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential, along with physical stamina and manual dexterity.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in emergency or critical care nursing and membership in relevant professional organizations are advantageous. OBGYN experience is also preferred.
