Senior Urban Development Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Urban Development Specialist to join our team at Clark County. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with expertise in urban planning and development to work on challenging projects that impact the community.
About the Position
This position will be responsible for performing advanced-level professional planning and development work in areas such as long-range land use planning, zoning, water quality, and transportation modeling. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of planning principles and practices, as well as excellent technical skills and communication abilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute work programs, objectives, strategies, and budgets for assigned projects and programs.
- Provide highly technical advice and assistance to subordinates, other sections, county officials, and staff on planning principles and practices, county code, and state laws.
- Manage major projects with broad public impact or controversial issues, requiring a high level of proficiency in urban planning and development.
- Recommend department policy within area(s) of expertise.
- Communicate complex planning issues in a professional and concise manner to various stakeholders, including peers, the Board of County Commissioners, neighborhood associations, and the general public.
- Develop and maintain effective relations with the public, representing Community Development on various committees, at meetings, and in legal processes.
- Prepare complex technical planning and administrative reports, special studies, assessments, inventories, and statistical information necessary for future planning.
- Participate in securing federal and state grants.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in planning, architecture, or a related field.
- At least two years of experience in a planning position comparable to a Planner II.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply planning principles and practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas to various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is $48.15 per hour, which is based on the Local 307.12A salary grade. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, vision, and dental insurance, paid leave, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, and long-term disability, retirement, and deferred compensation.
