Job Summary:
As a Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist at Education and Training Resources, you will play a vital role in implementing an effective trainee employee assistance program (TEAP) that focuses on substance abuse awareness, prevention, staff training, and networking with community resources. This position requires a state-certified Substance Abuse Counselor who has 2 years of experience in a related field.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Making assessments of students to identify those in need of intervention due to substance use.
  • Conducting individual and group counseling sessions for students requiring intervention.
  • Participating in the orientation of new students during the Career Preparation Period.
  • Ensuring students who test positive for drugs are retested within the 45-day probationary period.
  • Providing follow-up counseling to students who have completed TEAP to prevent relapse.
  • Delivering prevention education to all student employees throughout the Job Corps program.
  • Conducting in-service training sessions with staff and students on substance use and abuse topics.
  • Collaborating with the recreational department to develop leisure activities promoting an alcohol-free lifestyle.
  • Recommending medical separation with reinstatement for students needing alcohol and drug treatment.
  • Maintaining confidential reports and records on referrals and cases.
  • Collaborating with CMHC.
