Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a skilled Operating Room Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our surgical services team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced operating room environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in the operating room, utilizing the nursing process to deliver developmentally appropriate care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care that meets the patient's needs.
- Oversee the care delivered by the patient care team and coordinate the plan of care.
- Ensure that patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights, and guest relations.
- Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate patient care, using clinical judgment based on nursing skills acquired through formal and informal experiential knowledge and evidence-based guidelines.
- Provide education and facilitate learning for patients, families, and patient care team members, demonstrating a sensitivity to recognize, appreciate, and incorporate differences related to diversity.
- Collaborate with physicians, families, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement an appropriate plan of care that promotes the best patient outcomes.
- Accurately and thoroughly document all patient encounters, ensuring that Patient Health Information (PHI) is protected and secured at all times.
- Adhere to all infection prevention initiatives and deliver competent and skilled care to patients and families according to their identified needs.
- Continuously inquire about the patient's condition through the ongoing process of questioning and evaluating the situation, implementing treatment changes as necessary through collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Maintain a body of knowledge and tools that allow the nurse to manage environmental and system resources for the patient/family, within or across healthcare and non-healthcare systems.
- Set high standards of performance for self and others, clearly conveying information and ideas through various media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
Requirements:
- Minimum of one (1) year work experience in the operating room.
- Special training and/or experience in surgical procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Basic computer knowledge.
