About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Geomatics Instrument Operator to join our team at SAM. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of land survey instruments to support our daily operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the completion of field surveys under the supervision of a Crew Chief
  • Operate, check, and perform basic field adjustments of land survey equipment, including tripods, tribrachs, levels, total stations, GNSS receivers, and data radios/modems
  • Utilize survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations
  • Read and interpret various types of maps and plans
  • Complete neat and orderly field notes for land survey operations with supervision from Crew Chief
  • Keep Crew Chief informed of problems and progress
  • Load and unload trucks with land survey equipment and supplies
  • Clean and maintain land survey equipment, tools, and vehicle
  • Follow company safety procedures for land survey operations
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid, current driver's license
  • One year industry experience
  • Knowledgeable in the principles and performance of basic types of surveys, survey computations, and field operations
  • Ability to work continually outside in all types of weather conditions and terrain
  • Ability to work out of town, in remote locations, for extended periods of time
