Spencer Construction Inc. is a dynamic and expanding construction firm dedicated to delivering safety, quality, and timely execution of projects. We specialize in heavy civil construction, encompassing earthwork, concrete placement, steel erection, and more. The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional organizational skills, self-motivation, and a solid understanding of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, specifications, building materials, and the relevant standards applicable to assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and guide a team of construction workers.
  • Manage project budgets effectively.
  • Lead the crew to meet both daily and long-term objectives.
  • Document time, materials, and quantities using HCSS and iPad.
  • Perform tasks including shoveling, raking, jack hammering, heavy lifting, and utilizing various small tools for asphalt milling and paving.
  • Operate equipment based on skill level and experience.
  • Ensure all tasks are executed safely, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Communicate clearly with crew members to promote safety, teamwork, and successful completion of daily goals.

Additional Knowledge:

  • Understanding of formwork for concrete placement.
  • Experience in inspecting surfaces prior to pouring.
  • Familiarity with bridge deck forming and setting overhang jacks.
  • Knowledge of shoring and falsework placement.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Supervise the casting and pouring of concrete.
  • Manage earth and pipelaying crews.

  • Conduct research and organize assigned projects.
  • Adapt to working at various sites across different locations.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership to ensure efficient project tracking and monitoring.
  • Comply with and support safety initiatives to maintain a secure work environment.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and adhere to company policies.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Heavy Civil Foreman with supervisory and craft work experience.
  • Reliable transportation is essential.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Clear background check.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Capable of lifting, carrying, and handling construction materials and tools.
  • Perform various physical tasks such as digging, spreading, and leveling materials.
  • Maintain cleanliness of tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Exhibit a strong safety consciousness.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed.
  • Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Possess good vision and hearing (with or without correction).

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, and standards.
  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Experience in budgeting and cost management for projects.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position requires working at professional construction sites, necessitating effective communication with team members, the ability to read materials and signs, and the stamina to maintain focus amidst interruptions. The role involves lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and performing various physical activities safely.

Employees may be exposed to chemicals, pollutants, loud noises, and other environmental factors while working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
