Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Autonomous Vehicles: Safely operate class 7 delivery vehicles in both autonomous and manual modes, ensuring the safety of other drivers, the public, and the vehicle.
  • Manual Driving: Manually drive vehicles before transitioning to autonomous operations.
  • Customer Service: Act as an ambassador for the company, providing excellent customer service and ensuring timely delivery of goods.
  • Logistics Coordination: Ensure vehicles arrive at pick-up and drop-off locations on time, and the integrity of goods is retained throughout the journey.
  • Material Handling: Assist with loading and unloading of customer goods using equipment such as pallet jacks, carts, dollies, lift gates, etc.
  • Dispatch Updates: Update the dispatch team on the status of shifts and routes.
  • Data Recording: Record and review data via spreadsheets and other business-related applications.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily routine checks to ensure the operation and safety of trucks.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects: Participate in ad-hoc projects such as truck delivery to new locations, testing and/or installing new equipment, etc.
  • Feedback and Collaboration: Provide feedback to Operations and Engineering teams on vehicle processes and performance, and collaborate with teams to follow collection and drop-off procedures.
Requirements
  • Valid CDL License: Possess a valid Class A CDL driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Clean Background Check: Pass a clean background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record check.
  • Customer Service Experience: Have experience in customer relationship management.
  • Operational Skills: Be able to operate straight trucks with up to 26-35in long (box trucks).
  • Flexibility: Be willing to work flexible hours on both weekdays and weekends.
  • Physical Demands: Be able to perform physical work, including bending, stooping, and various operation tasks that may require lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and climbing a ladder.
Working Conditions

The Autonomous Vehicle Operator will work in a fast-paced environment, often requiring physical work, including but not limited to:

  • Safely operate a class 6 box truck in all weather conditions, during daytime or nighttime, throughout a 12 hour shift.
  • Able to move, lift and carry boxes one-by-one to a customer site from the truck of up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly, and - on occasion - to manipulate up to 100 lbs (46 kg).
  • Bend and twist while carrying materials; to reach, kneel, squat and stoop to position or reach materials.
  • Able to use wheel chocks which weigh about 40 lbs (20 kg).
  • Operate and maneuver, including push and pull movements, skids or palletized loads of up to 2000 lbs (910 kg) using provided pallet jack.
  • Use repetitive motions throughout the shift including lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, squatting and reaching.
  • Wear personal protective equipment, including safety shoes, hard hat and gloves.
