Job Description

The Project Mechanical Engineer I is a key member of the BEUMER Group GmbH & Co. KG team, responsible for designing and developing material handling equipment used in airport baggage handling systems. This position requires a strong technical background, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work closely with other engineers, sales, project management, and procurement teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Provide drafting and design expertise to assist engineers in creating 3D models and production equipment.
  • Site Survey and Evaluation: Survey site conditions versus 3D modeling to ensure accurate equipment design and installation.
  • Proposal Creation: Assist sales teams in creating equipment proposals by providing engineering and design expertise.
  • Manufacturing Feasibility and Cost Estimation: Evaluate manufacturing feasibility and estimate cost requirements for various material handling systems.
  • System Design and Component Optimization: Design systems layout and specific components on 2D and 3D AutoCAD equipment and software products, optimizing for cost, functionality, and manufacturability.
  • Data Entry and Documentation: Perform data entry functions to fully document engineering designs in the corporate database.
  • Process Support and Development: Support existing engineering processes and assist in the development of new processes.
  • Equipment Purchase Specifications: Prepare specifications for equipment purchase and work with procurement to release equipment for quotation and procurement.
  • Training and Operation Specifications: Prepare written specifications for training and operation.
  • Design Review and Manufacturing Preparation: Work with senior engineers to ensure designs are prepared for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Client Communication: Attend conference calls and on-site meetings with clients as directed by the manager.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing and project engineering setting.
  • Preferred Skills: Experience in design of automated machines and material handling capital equipment, proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD design programs, and Revit experience.
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical writing skills, ability to analyze and design basic mechanical components, ability to specify mechanical components, good knowledge of drafting, dimensioning, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, ability to learn quickly, excellent verbal and written communication skills, professional, positive, and energetic attitude, and ability to travel to project sites.
