We are seeking a dedicated Site Safety Manager who, under the guidance of the Safety Director, will play a crucial role in supporting the project management team, superintendents, foremen, and workers. This role is essential for coordinating the daily safety operations of the assigned project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a strong presence on-site, conducting independent safety inspections to identify various safety concerns.
  • Oversee multiple construction projects concurrently, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with the Safety Director and Client Representatives regarding safety issues at job sites.
  • Apply OSHA 1926 and other relevant regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor general contractors to guarantee compliance with all safety rules and procedures.
  • Participate in project meetings to address safety matters with the team.
  • Ensure prompt reporting of all incidents.
  • Advise contractors and supervisors on non-compliance issues, providing recommendations based on findings.
  • Assist the Superintendent and foreman in investigating incidents to determine root causes and necessary corrective actions.
  • Conduct weekly safety discussions with employees on-site.
  • Coach and guide field staff to ensure understanding and compliance with safety expectations.
  • Follow up on issues to ensure resolution and compliance.
  • Recommend safety programs, policies, and processes to enhance construction safety.
  • Orient new hires to the safety program and ensure all documentation is completed accurately.
  • Deliver safety training sessions and conduct accident investigations, including near-miss incidents.
  • Contribute to team objectives by achieving related results as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in a relevant field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in construction safety.
  • Preferred certifications in CPR and First Aid.
  • OSHA 510 and/or 500 certifications are advantageous.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour training.
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license.
  • Bi-lingual candidates are preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contract documents, safety regulations, and operational instructions.
  • Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective public speaking skills for presentations to clients, subcontractors, or employees.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address various challenges.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical capability to navigate construction sites, including climbing ladders and entering confined spaces.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Thorough understanding of health and safety management systems and OSHA CFR 1926 standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a customer service orientation.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to dependability.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Resourceful, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to foster effective working relationships.
