Social Service Assistant

Family & Community Services is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Social Service Assistant to join our team at Veterans Haven. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and stimulating environment for our residents.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the efficient running of the facility and its therapeutic programming.
- Provide administrative support, including answering phones, directing calls, and maintaining a organized front office.
- Manage office and facility supplies, including tracking inventory and making requests as needed.
- Conduct regular fire safety checks and drills.
- Prepare rooms for incoming residents and maintain a clean and comfortable living environment.
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain accurate medication logs and process donations.
- Prepare meals for residents on occasion and track therapeutic attendance.
- Assist residents with communication and liaison with external agencies.
- Accompany residents to appointments as needed.
- Promote anti-discriminatory practice and adapt to the needs of our residents.
- Provide support to ensure all residents experience an improved quality of life.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Foster positive working relationships with colleagues.
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
- Experience working in crisis intervention preferred.
