We are currently seeking a remote Ensemble Developer to contribute to our initiatives with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Work Assignment and Travel

This position is entirely remote. The selected candidate will access VA systems remotely and utilize approved VA communication tools. While travel is not mandatory, attendance at onsite client meetings may be required as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze error and trace logs, applying sorting and filtering techniques to address issues.
  • Track messages by domain and reconcile table counts.
  • Establish and maintain secure data message transmission protocols.
  • Monitor the volume of records transmitted per message by domain or classification.
  • Oversee Queue Depth across various services and processes.
  • Track retry attempts on storage devices and manage suspended messages.
  • Troubleshoot network challenges for both IRIS Enterprise Cache Protocol (ECP) and external networks.
  • Utilize the Ensemble GUI to add domains to production.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the Ensemble GUI rule builder for message routing and production data.
  • Edit domain record types, schema versions, statuses, and payload sizes via the GUI.
  • Provide development and administrative services for InterSystems Ensemble.
  • Create Ensemble data flows in existing or new environments.
  • Load IRIS Objects, SQL Tables, or other storage structures for classes across all environments.
  • Develop and modify Ensemble Services, Processes, and Operations as necessary.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to journaling and data filing using IRIS tools.
  • Perform upgrades to IRIS databases and Ensemble as required.
  • Explore VistA extraction and processing for potential enhancements.
  • Identify and address performance issues within IRIS databases and Ensemble processes.
  • Collaborate with the project team to enhance VistA extraction methodologies.
  • Develop ad hoc Ensemble Services, Processes, Productions, and Operations as needed.
  • Engage with InterSystems to resolve database and server issues.
  • Document Ensemble monitoring procedures and update existing documentation quarterly.
  • Include the Ensemble/Cache Issues Report in the Weekly Progress Report, detailing issues and resolutions.
  • Create and document any Ensemble Productions, Operations, Processes, or Services developed.
  • Provide or update documentation in Azure or VA DevOps, including:
    • Health Connect/Ensemble Class Code, Operations, Services, Productions Built Documentation
    • Technical Documentation of Classes and Production Code
    • Configuration, Setup, and Operational Guides
    • Mapping of Storage and Processing Documentation
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of professional experience in Software Development or relevant experience in the InterSystems technology stack.
  • Proficient in the InterSystems technology stack, including iKnow, Object Script, and Ensemble.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining RESTful APIs, including SOAP and Web API.
  • Familiarity with data formats such as JSON and XML.
  • Strong foundation in computer science principles, including object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithm design.
  • Proven ability to translate design mockups into functional application designs using a full-stack approach.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, and Automated Testing.
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to project ownership and task completion.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship due to clearance requirements.
  • Willingness to support customers during EST hours.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active VA Public Trust.
  • Knowledge of HealthShare, Ensemble, iKnow, DeepSee, and IRIS Data Platform.
  • Familiarity with FHIR, HTML5/CSS, RESTful Web Services, JavaScript, C#, Java, and SQL.
  • Previous successful experience in a remote work environment.
