Position Overview:

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist is dedicated to providing empathetic and suitable patient care while conducting MRI assessments under the supervision of a physician to aid in the medical evaluation or treatment of injuries.

The role encompasses responsibilities across various facilities and departments as designated by Imaging Services leadership, including temporary shift assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

Exhibits a thorough understanding of MRI safety protocols and diligently implements them to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, oneself, and fellow healthcare providers.

Possesses knowledge of MRI scanning parameters and, in collaboration with the radiologist, selects suitable technical settings and scanning methods to guarantee high-quality clinical examinations.

Ensures accurate patient identification, order verification, and prepares patients adequately for their examinations.
Conducts MRI assessments in accordance with departmental and system standard protocols.
Demonstrates knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and applies appropriate anatomical positioning and multiplanar image reconstruction techniques.

Under the guidance of the radiologist or supervising clinician, administers contrast agents and medications pertinent to MRI examinations, maintaining proficiency in all clinical and technical aspects of the role.

Adheres to relevant policies and procedures, including clinical documentation, billing, and electronic medical record workflows.
Shift Details: This is a PRN position (on-call, as needed) requiring at least one shift per pay period, with shifts ranging from 9 to 12 hours, including weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification -or- ARRT(R) certification with a minimum of one year of full-time MRI experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in MRI or Advanced Radiologic Science

Physical Requirements:
Regularly requires the ability to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interaction with patients, care providers, and visitors necessitates effective verbal communication and the ability to quickly and accurately comprehend spoken information, alarms, and urgent needs, especially in emergency situations.

Manual dexterity is essential for handling intricate and delicate equipment with precision. This includes frequent computer use for documenting patient care and accessing necessary information.
Expected to lift and utilize a full range of motion to assist patients, as well as bend to retrieve, lift, and transport supplies and equipment, which may include heavy items.
Must be able to walk and assist with patient transport and the distribution of supplies and equipment, including pushing or pulling gurneys and portable equipment.

Often required to navigate busy environments filled with equipment and cords, and may need to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.


For roles requiring driving:
Expected to operate a vehicle, which necessitates the ability to sit, see, and read signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
