Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Body Shop Operations Manager to lead our collision repair facility. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility, ensuring excellent work environment for our employees and an optimal customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the facility, including managing staff, inventory, and customer relationships.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with insurance agents, dealerships, and other customers to ensure positive relationships and meet their needs.
  • Inspect vehicles and assist with damage appraisals, ensuring accurate and timely completion of repairs.
  • Communicate with customers regarding repair process, including insurance claims processing, payment procedures, and expected delivery dates.
  • Monitor progress and completion of vehicles in the shop, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and quality control standards.
  • Oversee the ordering of replacement parts and body shop supplies, maintaining excellent relationships with Dealers and suppliers.
  • Facilitate and conduct technical training for employees, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Monitor the maintenance of paint booths, frame straightening equipment, and other large, fixed assets to ensure long-term usage and value.
  • Stay up-to-date with new equipment and tools available, recommending purchases to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure the work areas and customer waiting area are kept clean and organized.
  • Recruit, train, motivate, and monitor the performance of all body shop employees, maintaining a positive employee culture with consistent communication.
  • Review and maintain financial expectations, including expense control, revenue and cost of sales, shop productivity, and comparisons to budget.
  • Aid with the annual budgeting process, ensuring the facility's financial goals are met.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience in a collision repair facility.
  • Prior experience as a collision estimator or insurance appraiser.
  • Fluency in Estimating Software (Audatex and Mitchell) is considered an asset.
  • I-CAR training or other industry training is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Flexible and adaptable to constant change.
  • Strong tact and diplomacy, with the ability to interact with all levels of personnel.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Developed reasoning and problem-solving skills, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and plan work under own initiative.
  • Strong communication skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening).
  • Ability to train others.
  • Able to motivate and manage production teams.
  • Professional leadership ability.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
