Position Summary: The Waste Collection Operator is tasked with driving a collection vehicle and delivering efficient waste removal services to our clientele. Additionally, the operator must ensure that their vehicle complies with the company's safety standards before operation, adhering to all relevant regulations at all times.

Compensation: $21 - $24 hourly

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle in line with company policy, ensuring that all safety equipment and controls are functioning correctly. Report any safety concerns as necessary.
  • Safely navigate the designated route and transport waste to the disposal site, following the provided route sheet and map.
  • Utilize manual and automatic controls in accordance with safety protocols to lift and load refuse, operate compactors, and dispose of collected materials appropriately.
  • Engage courteously with customers, dispatchers, and colleagues to ensure timely and professional service.
  • Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Monitor waste for any unacceptable materials and address spills in compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain the vehicle's operational readiness, performing necessary cleaning and maintenance after each disposal trip.
  • Complete required documentation, including route and productivity sheets, as well as other reports.
  • Adhere to productivity standards to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures diligently.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.
  • Exhibit strong customer service skills to meet and exceed expectations, acting professionally and cooperatively.
  • Demonstrate effective time management to complete responsibilities safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a commitment to company policies and safety standards, avoiding unnecessary risks.
  • Take pride in your work and strive to achieve all performance goals.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License.
  • Preferred: Two years of experience operating a commercial vehicle.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment drug screening, physical examination, background check, and maintain a clean driving record.
