Clinical Nurse Specialist - Outpatient Care at Texas Children's Hospital

Position Overview


We are seeking a dedicated part-time Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our outpatient care team. This role is ideal for an individual who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

In this capacity, you will deliver exceptional patient care while ensuring outstanding service in a healthcare setting. You will also play a crucial role in coordinating patient flow and managing provider schedules to optimize care delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employs evidence-based assessment methods and advanced interviewing techniques to gather relevant patient, family, or population-specific information.
  • Develops and regularly updates personalized care plans for patients addressing health promotion, disease management, or situational health challenges.
  • Prioritizes and executes care interventions in collaboration with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals in a timely manner.
  • Conducts evaluations and follow-ups on care provided based on patient needs, conditions, or requests.
  • Engages families and caregivers in understanding and participating in the care plan.
  • Utilizes ongoing assessment data to refine diagnoses, expected outcomes, and care implementation as necessary.
  • Advocates for patients by addressing care issues and collaborating effectively with the healthcare team.
Qualifications


All employees at Texas Children's are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any recommended booster doses, unless a medical or religious exemption is approved.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or an Associate’s Degree in Nursing with current enrollment in a BSN program.
  • Verification of BSN equivalency or a signed agreement is mandatory.
  • Current licensure with the Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience.
  • Experience with EPIC is highly preferred.
