Job Title: Substance Abuse Counselor

Are you passionate about helping individuals overcome addiction and achieve a better life? We are seeking a skilled Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at The GEO Group, Inc.

Job Summary:

As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a critical role in providing education, support, and guidance to individuals struggling with substance abuse. You will work closely with our team to develop and implement programs that promote recovery and rehabilitation.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide educational presentations, group counseling, and individual counseling sessions to residents.
  • Select and recommend new instructional materials and programs for use in the substance abuse program.
  • Maintain knowledge of new developments in the field of substance abuse.
  • Maintain a collegial relationship with other substance abuse professionals, programs, and associations.
  • Complete required testing, assessment, and psychosocial history on incoming residents as required.
  • Participate in related training for substance abuse.
Qualifications:
  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a minimum B.A. degree, preferably in human services (Sociology, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Counseling, or other closely related field).
  • CADC Certification or alternate certification as approved by DHS/SUPR required.
  • Preference given to experience within a correctional setting.
  • Working knowledge of the Twelve Step Program of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
  • Working knowledge of substance abuse treatment curriculums designed for use with criminal justice populations.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner in both individual and group counseling settings.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a team of professionals and have the ability to implement team strategy approaches to work assignments.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
Physical Requirements:

In this position, you will frequently have to lift or carry up to 20 lbs. Candidates should also be able to bend, stoop, walk, and stand (31-60% of the time). You will also occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.

Pay and Benefits:

Pay USD $27.00/Hr. Bonus (if applicable): $5,000.00 Sign-On Bonus
