Job Summary

Abraxas Youth & Family Services is seeking a qualified Counselor II, CADC to provide group and individual counseling, community support, case coordination, and crisis intervention services to clients with a primary substance use disorder diagnosis.

Responsibilities
  • Complete comprehensive assessments of each client's substance-use history and treatment requirements.
  • Develop and implement individualized, developmentally appropriate treatment plans.
  • Provide daily treatment and curriculum-based education groups.
  • Document treatment and discharge plans, client responses to treatment, and maintain related records and charts.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED and 24 credit hours of college education or accredited training program in substance abuse counseling and/or other human services area.
  • Required certification or license: IAODAPCA certification as Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or IC&RC Counselor certification (CRADC, CSADC, CAADC); or Licensed Social Worker (LSW), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).
  • Two (2) years paid work experience in a substance abuse, correctional, or other human services counseling position.
