Operating Room Patient Care Technician

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Operating Room Patient Care Technician to join our team at Trident Medical Center. As a key member of our surgical services team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring a smooth and efficient surgical experience.
Responsibilities- Participate in the implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensed nurse.
- Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care, including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information as outlined by policy.
- Assist with mobility by regular turning and positioning, dangling, and ambulating patients. Assist with use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs. Transfers patients to and from other units, departments, or entities. Assist with discharges. Demonstrates proper body mechanics.
- Obtain or assist in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests. Ensures accuracy of all labels and timely transfer of specimen.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living to include eating and drinking, bathing, shaving, oral care, grooming, and elimination. Changes bed linens as needed.
- Engage in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.
- Licensed as a CNA in this state OR be currently enrolled in a nursing program at an accredited school, having completed the Fundamentals of Nursing Course
- A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required
- 1 year of acute/hospital experience is required
- Previous patient transporting and/or patient care experience in surgical services preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
