Position Overview:
As a Senior Engineer Indirect at Watlow, you will be instrumental in the development and enhancement of hardware solutions tailored for a diverse range of industries, including semiconductor, medical, food, energy, and environmental technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Opportunity Identification: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to discover avenues for product enhancements.
- Circuit Design and Analysis: Leverage your electrical engineering skills to design and analyze circuits that fulfill technical specifications and performance benchmarks.
- PCB Development: Work in conjunction with the layout team to create printed circuit boards (PCBs) that are optimized for both manufacturability and functionality.
- Embedded Systems Integration: Understand the interplay between hardware and firmware/software in microcontroller/microprocessor systems.
- Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA): Employ systematic approaches to identify and mitigate potential design and process issues.
- Manufacturing Collaboration: Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure that products are built to the highest quality standards and delivered punctually.
- Testing Protocols: Develop and execute testing plans to validate hardware designs.
- Technical Documentation: Create comprehensive technical documentation, including schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and design specifications.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest advancements in hardware development to drive continuous improvement.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of six years of relevant experience in electronics design. Proficiency in electrical circuit design and simulation is essential. Experience in embedded, analog, power supply, or power electronics design is preferred. Familiarity with design for EMI/EMC and PCB component-level schematics is required. Proficient in using standard testing equipment for troubleshooting at the component level. Strong understanding of electronic components and their applications is necessary. Experience with PCB design tools and software is a must. Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and strong communication skills are essential.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of ARM-based embedded programming and experience with Python for product development automation is advantageous. Familiarity with UL and IEC standards, as well as CAN and J1939 communication networks, is a plus.
