Overview:
The Information Technology Technician is responsible for delivering tier 1 and tier 2 technical support to both staff and students within the Kent Intermediate School District and associated districts utilizing IT services from our technology department. The primary objective of this role is to ensure the availability and functionality of technology resources to facilitate the educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and resolve hardware and software issues.
- Implement and set up new computer systems.
- Provide training and assistance to users on newly adopted software.
- Repair and maintain laptop and desktop computers.
- Document repairs and maintain records within the Help Desk system.
- Install and configure software in accordance with specifications.
- Manage system documentation for disaster recovery purposes.
- Travel to various schools and programs as required.
- Ensure confidentiality in compliance with FERPA regulations.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with colleagues and vendors to meet departmental goals.
- Manage multiple tasks with competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Deliver high-quality customer service to both internal and external clients.
- Follow cybersecurity protocols and safeguards.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, as well as Board regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field is preferred.
- Certification as an IT Technician is preferred (e.g., CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified IT Professional).
- Proficient in desktop installation and troubleshooting across Windows, Mac OS, iOS, and Android operating systems; experience with Chrome OS is advantageous.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues remotely.
- Knowledgeable in Active Directory for user and management functionalities.
- Experience with educational and office applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, PowerSchool, Adobe Creative Suite, and others.
- Capable of resolving a wide range of desktop software and hardware challenges, including virus and spyware removal.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and effective time management.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Willingness to work after hours as needed for testing and troubleshooting.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Note: The final candidate will be required to provide a current Michigan State Police and FBI criminal records LiveScan check prior to hiring.
