Job Title: Refugee Support Specialist

About the Job

The International Institute of St. Louis is seeking a skilled Refugee Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will provide critical support to humanitarian parolees, refugees, asylees, and special immigrant visa holders. Under the supervision of the Social Work Program Manager, you will work closely with a team of social service professionals to meet client needs.

Responsibilities

As a Refugee Support Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:

* Conducting assessments and service planning to assist clients experiencing a wide range of issues, including health, mental health, domestic violence, and resettlement stress.
* Facilitating health education, health promotion, and wellness groups, including providing individual follow-up and psychoeducation as necessary.
* Providing crisis intervention and connecting clients to immediate resources as needed.
* Referring clients to appropriate outside agencies and following up with clients and agencies as necessary to document the use and/or success of referrals.
* Task supervision for social work interns, as applicable.
* Conducting outreach and training to help build capacity in the community around working with refugees and immigrants.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need to have:

* A Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW) with 2+ years of case management experience.
* Group facilitation experience and 1-2 years of experience working with international populations, preferably.
* Knowledge of trauma-informed and strengths-based frameworks, as well as intercultural practice frameworks.
* Flexibility in adapting to client issues and team needs, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Familiarity with community resources and the ability to work well as a team member, with strong communication skills.
* The ability to meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and work productively in a multicultural environment.
