Position Overview
The Automotive Service Specialist plays a crucial role in executing vehicle maintenance and repair tasks as directed, adhering to both dealership and manufacturer standards. This position also involves supervising any apprentice technicians assigned to the specialist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and review repair orders from the service dispatcher and proceed to the designated work area.
- Carry out tasks as specified on the repair order with precision and efficiency, in line with dealership and manufacturer guidelines.
- Diagnose the root cause of vehicle issues and implement necessary repairs.
- Collaborate with the parts department to procure required components.
- Tag and preserve parts if the repair falls under warranty or upon customer request.
- Inspect vehicles to identify any additional safety or service needs.
- Promptly inform the service advisor if further work is unnecessary or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe.
- Document all work performed accurately.
- Conduct road tests on vehicles when necessary or refer to a designated test technician, ensuring customer vehicles are not used for personal errands.
- Oversee the work of apprentice technicians as assigned.
- Participate in factory-sponsored training sessions to enhance skills.
- Stay updated on factory technical bulletins and service updates.
- Ensure that customer vehicles are maintained in a clean condition.
- Maintain a tidy and organized work area, ensuring accountability for all dealership-owned tools.
- Comply with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and report any incidents to a supervisor immediately.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) is essential.
- ASE certification or equivalent manufacturer training is preferred.
- A high school diploma or equivalent educational background.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Manual dexterity and strong judgment skills.
- All candidates must be authorized to work in the USA.
- All candidates must demonstrate the ability to pass pre-employment screenings, including background checks, motor vehicle records, drug tests, and valid driver’s license verification.
