Cardiovascular Surgeon Assistant Position

About the Role
Hartford HealthCare (HHC) is seeking a skilled Physician Assistant to join its esteemed Department of Cardiac Surgery at the Heart & Vascular Institute. As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the advancement of cardiovascular surgical services.
Key Responsibilities
- First assist in cardiovascular surgical procedures, including endoscopic vessel harvesting
- Conduct preoperative history and physical examinations, as well as postoperative care in an outpatient clinical setting
- Deliver comprehensive patient education and support patient care from admission to discharge in service, Step-Down, and ICU
- Manage multiple patients with varied critical illness, perform hemodynamic/ventilator management, and interpret diagnostic results
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Master's program
- Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Physician Assistant in Connecticut
- Certification or eligibility for certification as a Physician Assistant
- 2+ years' experience in cardiovascular surgery preferred; first assistant experience and endoscopic vein harvesting skills highly desirable
