About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Clinician to join our team at The Regents of the University of California on behalf of their Los Angeles Campus. As a key member of our Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) team, you will play a vital role in supporting the mental health needs of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct clinical services to students, including assessment, brief psychotherapy, and crisis intervention.
  • Work collaboratively with other CAPS team members to ensure coordination of care for complex cases and thorough case management for student mental health needs.
  • Respond to students in distress directly and through consultation to others, supporting referrals and linkage to appropriate campus and community resources.
  • Support hospitalization procedures when necessary and serve as a primary point of contact for certain clinical and student populations.
  • Work in an interdisciplinary and diverse environment, demonstrating ability to conduct effective crisis intervention and de-escalation for a wide range of presenting issues.
Requirements
  • Current, valid license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the university environment and of developmental issues of college-aged students, including diverse and traditionally underserved populations.
  • Demonstrated competence in trauma-informed, culturally competent, mental health service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while applying good judgment for when consultation and assistance is needed.
  • Working knowledge of legal and ethical issues pertaining to mental health treatment and service delivery.
  • Working knowledge of cultural and ethnic factors affecting mental health service delivery.
  • Knowledge of business software and specialized applications/systems (EMR) used in behavioral health settings.
