Position Summary

The Equipment Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the management of the equipment fleet on-site. This role requires a strong ethical foundation in all dealings with vendors, manufacturers, and team members. The ideal candidate will be a resourceful problem-solver, open to relocation, and available for night and weekend work as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Management

  • Ensure a secure working environment for all personnel.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Maintain an unwavering commitment to safety.
  • Lead daily safety meetings on-site and participate in company-wide safety discussions.
Quality Assurance
  • Guarantee that all maintenance and repairs are executed to the highest standards.
  • Conduct follow-ups to verify quality completion.
Cost Management
  • Keep equipment in optimal working condition while minimizing costs.
  • Exercise sound judgment in procuring parts and services.
  • Manage external vendors with the same diligence as internal staff.
  • Utilize estimates effectively to control expenses.
  • Return surplus or unnecessary parts to suppliers.
  • Prioritize national accounts or preferred vendors when feasible.
Maintenance Oversight
  • Ensure the accuracy of the maintenance backlog.
  • Verify that the backlog reflects the actual condition of machinery.
  • Provide precise descriptions of required maintenance and repairs.
  • Estimate man-hours accurately for maintenance tasks.
Lubrication and Oil Analysis
  • Maintain a precise lubrication schedule.
  • Keep detailed fuel records.
  • Track hour meter readings accurately.
  • Ensure timely oil sampling and lab analysis.
  • Monitor oil analysis results and take necessary actions.
Planning and Scheduling
  • Participate in daily and weekly scheduling meetings.
  • Plan preventive maintenance and repairs to minimize disruption to job schedules.
  • Understand job requirements and equipment needs to optimize the use of the equipment fleet.
  • Strategize to reduce unnecessary freight and rental equipment costs.
Training and Development
  • Instruct team members in safe and efficient work practices.
  • Ensure maintenance staff receive necessary training to comply with regulations and company policies.
  • Educate operators on effective equipment usage to prevent misuse.
  • Recommend personnel for specialized training opportunities.
Record Keeping
  • Document all maintenance activities accurately within the Equipment module of the SAP Database.
  • Ensure the precision of fuel, oil, and environmental records.
  • Conduct inspections and maintain thorough records.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in heavy equipment maintenance.
