Position Summary:

The CNC Machinist – Large Lathe is tasked with executing precision machining operations to manufacture superior quality components. This role involves programming, setting up, and operating CNC large lathe machinery, capable of turning parts up to 63 inches in diameter and 40 feet in length. The machinist will also troubleshoot and repair machinery as necessary, ensuring products meet strict blueprint specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze work orders, blueprints, and engineering plans to plan machining operations.
  • Select and mount the necessary fixtures, attachments, and tools for machining tasks.
  • Set up CNC lathes by adjusting chucks, tools, and other components to meet dimensional specifications.
  • Program and operate CNC machines, entering instructions and monitoring processes.
  • Verify incoming materials against work orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain quality standards by observing machine operations and making adjustments as needed.
  • Document actions and maintain logs for production and quality assurance.
  • Ensure safe operation by adhering to established safety protocols.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a technical degree is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience with CNC large lathe operations.
  • Proficiency in programming CNC machines, particularly with Fanuc controls.
  • Strong understanding of blueprints and machining specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Work Environment:

This position is based in a manufacturing setting, where the noise level can be moderate to loud. Employees are expected to adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean workspace.
